The Throwback Podcast
Dan Hanzus and Bob Castrone love listening to music- almost as much as they love hanging out in a garage and talking about it. On The Throwback Podcast, lifelong friends revisit important albums from their past and go through them--track by track-- with fresh ears. From the classics to the cringeworthy, every week is a throwback.

In 2004, an incompetent President mishandled a life-or-death situation and drew the ire of millions of angry citizens who hated how much he was hurting our country. Sixteen years later, the world is obviously a much different place. And this week, Bob and Dan are in a garage ready to tackle Green Day's epic George Bush-blasting rock opera, American Idiot. Throw in some Patreonie email questions and a deeper-than-expected dive into Incubus' shockingly impressive catalog, and you have an episode even Billie Joe couldn't sneer at.

Twelve years ago Dan, Bob, Jason Zumwalt and Nikki Glaser spent countless nights hanging out, having fun, and listening to Tom Petty together in the Hollywood Hills. Now they're back at it again. This week, Nikki surprises her old friends by crashing a recording session and digging into Wildflowers with the boys. Sure, they're in different time zones and roughly a dozen years removed from Peak Fun, but that won't stop them from talking about things that matter, like Everlast, St. Louis Raya, hot dads, and the Velvet Teddy Bear.

Pump Up The Jam? Why yes, we will. This week we're transforming the rented garage into a rented Middle School Auditorium circa 1992. Our moms have bought us some rad rayon shirts and we're totally psyched to do the running man to the biggest pop/Eurodance hits from the early 90's. From C&C Music Factory to Technotronic to Ace Of Base to Haddaway, let's party right up until that Ford Taurus station wagon takes us home. You guys want some cameos?

Episode 100! Here we are! Thanks to all the Patreonies and people out there for making this happen! To celebrate, Dan and Bob are going to (a) burn down the garage, and (b) push play on the album that helped transform these two average 8th graders (slash-below-average-soccer-players) into award-winning Bosom Buddies. [Adam Duritz 'Rain King' Howl]: Yeahhhhhhh!

Goo Heads rejoice: your favorite band from Buffalo won a Patreon Poll (patreon.com/throwbackpod) which means they're getting the Throwback treatment this week! Let's go back to 1998 when upstate NY's finest scored a multiplatinum LP featuring LITERALLY the biggest song of the decade -- which somehow isn't even the best song on the album. Just ask Maude.

In this very special double-episode of the Throwback Podcast, Bob and Dan say goodbye to the 2010's the only way they know how: by picking 20 of their favorite songs from the decade and discussing the most random sh*t imaginable while a terrible Mike Myers movie plays in the background. Let's take a look back at the '10s with an episode nearly as long as the decade itself. All killer, no mid-podcast filler. Happy new year.

Twenty years ago the boys in blink-182 made the leap from SoCal punks to TRL mainstays, all thanks to an album with a pornstar on the cover and 3 huge hit singles. This week, the boys in the rented garage dig into Blink's multi-multi-platinum LP, Enema Of The State. Also, Bob vamps.

It sold 15 MILLION copies. Spawned multiple HUGE hits. Introduced the world (and, more importantly, Carlos Santana) to Rob Thomas. But in 1996... Dan and Bob HATED IT. The question is: why? Why were the teenage BFF's anti-Matchers? Why did they hold onto that hatred for decades? And why are they finally ready to finally give Rob & Co. a chance today? Do Matchbox 20 (twenty?) have what it takes to win them over, or... or will they push them away?

What were you doing in the summer of '02? If you were anything like the NFL Network's Colleen Wolfe (a.k.a. Connie Fox a.k.a. Tiny Box a.k.a whatever her name was on her old fake I.D.) you were blasting 311 out of your '93 Trans Am and getting ready for your senior year of high school. This week Dan, Bob, and Colleen travel back to the days of Jimmy Eat World, Avril Lavigne, and absolutely filthy hip hop to assemble the perfect Back 2 School Mix and share some high-level Mall Gossip. It's not so complicated.
